Bio: Jeremy Mull was elected as the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney in November, 2014, and took office January 1, 2015. Mull began working as a deputy prosecutor in Clark County in 1999, during which time he prosecuted homicide cases and thousands of narcotics cases, and served on the board of directors for the Southern Indiana Drug Task Force. In 2008, at the request of then-Clark County Prosecutor Steve Stewart, Mull returned to Clark County from Afghanistan to serve as the Chief Deputy Prosecutor. In this position, he prosecuted high-level felonies, including armed robberies, home burglaries, child molestings, and murders. He held this position until being elected Clark County Prosecutor.
Mull has extensive experience in international law enforcement. He served a tour as a Police and Legal Advisor to the Police Peacekeeping Mission in Sudan, on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Division (INL). Subsequently, he served a tour as the Police-Prosecutor Coordinator for Afghanistan, again on behalf of INL, with the Justice Sector Support Program (JSSP). Upon returning to the United States, Mull, as an expert in Afghan Police and Criminal Procedure, trained U.S. Police Advisors to Afghanistan on Afghan police and justice procedures prior to their deployments on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense.
Mull has taught law and criminal procedure in several arenas. As an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Indiana University Southeast since 2001, he has taught courses in Criminal Law, Criminology, and Criminal Procedure. Mull is a graduate of, and serves as an instructor, at the Indiana Covert Drug Investigation School (Top Gun). He has instructed prosecutors from around the state on the prosecution of Habitual Offenders, on behalf of the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC). He regularly teaches police officer throughout the area, both in the form of continuing education sessions and at the Clark County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Academy.
Mull believes that, as the chief law enforcement officer of the county, the Prosecuting Attorney should be knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects pertinent to criminal justice. Therefore, he has graduated from several courses in furtherance of his work as a Prosecutor. Some of these include: Secret Service course on Computer Forensics, Secret Service course on Mobile Devices and Cellular Networks, Indiana Police Academy course on Computer Forensics, Indiana Top Gun Covert Drug School, Michigan State University Criminal Intelligence Course, PATC course on Developing and Managing Confidential Informants, the Reid Basic and Advanced Courses on Interviewing and Interrogations, NDAA course on Advanced Trial Advocacy, NDAA course on Arson and Explosives, and many more. In addition, Mull has studied the Spanish and Arabic languages.
